Igor Zadorozhny is a triple amputee from Moscow, Russia. He is a Major of the Russian Special Forces. Igor was badly wounded during the war in Chechnya in 2003. Both of his legs and the right arm were amputated.
Major Zadorozhny is still in active duty. He is married and has a 2 year old son, Nikita. Igor continues to live an active lifestyle – he swims in the pool and takes rides on a hand cycle. Igor’s current prosthetics are very uncomfortable and are not fitted well. He can’t use his prosthetic arm at all and he can only walk on his prosthetic legs for about 20 minutes. These were the best prosthetics he had access to in Russia. The Supreme Commander of the Special Forces had to get involved to authorize the payment for one of Igor's prosthetic legs. In 2003 Igor was awarded "The Hero of Russia", the highest military award in the Russian Federation.
